YEAR 11 - Revision

Research suggests that revision is most effective when a large sum of learning is revised in small chunks.

We are working hard at Smithills to put in place support for your child during this important year in their school careers. A personalised ‘Eat the Elephant’ revision timetable has been created for Year 11 students. The timetable outlines weekly revision tasks for each subject. Most of the revision is to be done on the GCSEPod website. The red numbers and letters correspond to videos your child should be watching to aid their revision. Details of how your child can access GCSEPod can also be found on the school website.

WHAT IS GCSEPOD?

GCSEPod is an award-winning educational resource with over 6000 ‘pods’, which are short videos for almost every subject your child is studying. The videos are written by expert teachers and are mapped to the GCSE exam boards your child will be sitting in May 2024. The ‘pods’ are designed to be watched and used to create revision materials. Students should watch pods regularly, repeating learning they have been doing in school, in order to remember and revise information. There are revision tips for pupils below.

PARENTS

Help your child reach their potential whilst building their confidence across a range of subjects.  Use GCSEPod to learn a new topic together or help them identify their weakest areas and fill their knowledge gaps.  The content on GCSEPod is already filtered by your child’s school so you can log in with the peace of mind that what’s available will really make a difference to their progress. Students who regularly use GCSEPod have the potential to gain one grade higher than if they do not engage with GCSEPod.
