She worked with them on various skills needed as a dancer in the industry, such as the importance of warming up and cooling down, understanding the value of technique and the skill of learning choreography.

International Day of Dance is celebrated every year on April 29. Smithills School continually radiates creativity and passion, particularly through its exceptional dance programme.

Students completed a day long workshop with Adam Corbally, runner up from the Apprentice. Adam has always been keen to fundraise, climbed Kilimanjaro, ran London marathon, walked on hot coals and raised money for 30 defibrillator’s for his home town Adams Enterprise Days are all about helping pupils reach for the stars.

What an wonderful learning experience pupils in years 8, 9 and 10 have had.  The Mercians have delivered powerful lessons on mental health, relationships, respect and tolerance.  The sessions were so engaging with music linked to this powerful message to teach pupils about the importance of communicating feelings, and finding an outlet for mental wellbeing.  The feedback from pupils has been fantastic.  Layla year 8 "it was educational, heartfelt and it raised awareness of mental health and that there is always someone to speak to".

The day was based around how to transport the Indium safely down the mine cliff face, the transportation of Indium to the processing unit and then the use of gliders to transport the Indium to Manchester Airport.
