We are delighted to be celebrating a very positive set of Year 11 results, with the school achieving some of its strongest outcomes to date. Results have improved across the school, including overall pupil attainment and the proportion of pupils achieving strong passes in both English and Maths. We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 pupils and what they have achieved. Their results reflect their hard work, determination and resilience, together with the dedication of our staff and the support of parents and carers. We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2026 and wish them every success as they take their next steps.

The Year 10 Outdoor Activity Day at the Anderton Centre was an outstanding success, providing students with an exciting and memorable opportunity to experience a wide range of outdoor and adventurous activities linked directly to their Cambridge National Sports Studies qualification, Unit R187. From the moment they arrived, students demonstrated enthusiasm, determination, and a willingness to challenge themselves as they took part in activities including orienteering, tree climbing, abseiling, the trust climb, the leap of faith, and a variety of team-building exercises.

Our student mental health and wellbeing champions have made this short video, offering advice and guidance to pupils who may need help or support.

Grace Goulding, a professional performer, choreographer and theatre maker came to Smithills to work with a selected group of Year 9 pupils. The pupils experienced building a musical number from scratch involving acting, dancing and singing. After working with the pupils Grace said "It was a joy! Please pass onto your young people how much they made me laugh and brought so many great ideas and enthusiasm, it was a fab morning."
