This week’s Lockdown Language Challenge is a creative one!  Can you think of a famous building/statue from around the world?  Maybe The Eiffel Tower, The Taj Mahal, Thames Bridge…your choice.  Can you make a model of your chosen building?  Or maybe you could draw / paint your choice?  I look forward to seeing your photos J  Please email pictures to j.pacer@smithillsschool.net by Tuesday 19th May.

April Work

Extra Challenge

Lockdown Languages Challenge week 1: Can you think of as many reasons as possible why learning a language is important?  How creative can you be?  Produce a poster, short video, Powerpoint (be as creative as you like!) and send your ideas to Mrs Pacer via email: j.pacer@smithillsschool.net  Mrs Pacer will judge the entries and send you out a certificate to print (and chocolates when we next see each other). All entries to be received by Monday 4th May.  Good luck!

Mrs Pacer’s Classes:

Mrs Pacer: j.pacer@smithillsschool.net

Year 7 and 8 Spanish:

  1. Make a tourist leaflet OR poster about a Spanish town or city.  Include places of interest for people to visit (pictures and information as to WHY they might like to visit).  Ideas of towns/cities you might like to consider: Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia.  Work should be in ENGLISH unless you would prefer to have a go in Spanish

  2. Research a Spanish speaking famous person for example Shakira, David de Gea, Enrique Iglesias.  Produce a fact file about that person (where they were born, age, family, where they live now…)

  3. Find out about a different country where Spanish is spoken (CLUE: South America has lots of countries where Spanish is spoken but NOT Brazil!)  Write a list of ten facts about that country eg. The capital city, the currency, places of interest in the country, population…

  4. Create a revision board game for pupils to recap on the basics.  Your template could be a snakes and ladders board or Ludo style perhaps; your choice!  Tasks you ask pupils to complete could include: 1. Count from 1 to 30 in Spanish, name 3 months of the year in Spanish, name the 4 opinion verbs, think of 3 adjectives in Spanish. Be as creative as you like!

Complete the worksheets on colours, family and pets.  Additional challenges: 1. Write a description of a family member OR a famous person.  2. Make a powerpoint and worksheet of your own to teach someone the names of the pets in Spanish (maybe use some of the games we use during lessons!)  Why not look up the names of some other more exotic animals/pets to use in your work? Email me to let me know how your work as a teacher goes!  3. Draw out the Simpsons family (or another famous family).  Turn your picture into a colour by numbers resource and list the appropriate colours underneath eg. 1 = Amarillo (yellow)  2. Rojo (red)  3. Azul (blue) Can someone you live with complete the Spanish colouring in challenge?  4. Flags and colours: Think of at least 6 different countries and find their name in Spanish (lots will the same or very similar to the English word)  Label each country in Spanish and draw the flag to match.  Can you then create a word-search for the countries?  Email me your best pieces of work!

  2. Research a French speaking famous person for example Paul Pogba, David Guetta or you could choose a historical figure eg. Joan of Arc, Napoleon)  Produce a fact file about that person (where they were born, age, family, where they live now/where they were buried…)

  3. Find out about a different country where French is spoken (some options include Cameroon, Canada, Luxemburg)  Write a list of ten facts about that country eg. The capital city, the currency, places of interest in the country, population…

  4. Create a revision board game for pupils to recap on the basics.  Your template could be a snakes and ladders board or Ludo style perhaps; your choice!  Tasks you ask pupils to complete could include: 1. Mrs Khan's Option Group RE

We will now delay Crime and Punishment for the future as it is more of a research discussion topic. Therefore I would like us to complete Living the Christian Life and Living the Muslim life.

I will set the work on a 2 week basis so that you do not get confused. Once the 2 weeks are complete I will set you some questions that can hopefully check your understanding.

Instructions

  • I would like you to work up to slide 22 - Click Here for the Powerpoint.

  • Please complete connect activities and consolidates as you would do in class

  • The two lessons are focused on forms of worship and importance of baptism.

  • Once you have completed both mind maps using the notes I have provided.

I would like you to do one of the following:

  • Create a mini quiz and send it to me/ create a leaflet for a pupil in year 5 to help them understand the information you have consolidated/ design a pamphlet for a non-religious believer  to show them the importance.

  • I would like you all to complete the exam questions on there.

  • We will review the work and move on from there.

I will be expecting work from you by the 28th April.  You will then get another set of instructions for the following 2 weeks.

This will be on the portal.

Please contact me if there are any issues - s.khan@smithillsschool.net
