To celebrate Earth Day pupils partook in a range of activities in and around the school grounds. A select number of pupils started off the day creating an insect hotel in our new outdoor learning area.

They went searching with magnifying glasses for insects to add to the hotel, pupils found; worms, centipedes, frogs and ladybirds! Wild flower seedlings were sprinkled around the school site ready to bloom in the coming months.

Pupils finished off the day with a litter pick along Smithills Dean Road and the wider Smithills area, 10 bags of litter were collected! The whole school spent time creating anti-litter posters, where the best won a chocolatey prize and will have their designs printed around the local area.

Overall the day was a triumph, Eco Club will continue with community litter picks and projects to help the environment.

We hope everyone enjoyed Earth Day as much as we did.
