On Monday 6th December a select group of our students were fortunate enough to visit the University of Bolton Stadium to experience what it is like to work in the professional sports industry.

Naturally the demand for the trip would have been high so students from year 8 were selected by the PE department based upon how well they have engaged in lessons, remote learning and school activities since starting in September 2020.

On the trip the students had a tour of the University of Bolton Stadium from Pete Oliver the clubs senior communications officer and were then fortunate enough to be present for a pre-match press conference where they asked questions to Ricardo Santos (first team captain) and Pete Oliver (Senior communications officer) about working in the sports industry.

While in the media suite pupils additionally spoke openly with local press representatives from the Bolton News, Radio Manchester, Bolton FM and Manchester Evening News as well as Ian Evatt (First team Manager). The trip was carried out in accordance with covid guidance and social distancing measures.

Smithills School would like to thank Bolton Wanderers and Pete Oliver who facilitated this amazing opportunity. All students who attended really enjoyed the experience and will have created life long memories.
