CAREERS

We aim to equip all our pupils with the confidence, knowledge and skills to make effective decisions about learning and work and what is right for them.

Careers guidance is an integral part of the school’s overall commitment to pastoral care and the emphasis on preparing pupils for life beyond school.

Careers education is delivered through Personal Social and Health Education (PSHE) particularly in work relating to option choices at age 14. Careers Education continues through Years 10 and 11, where pupils also receive individual guidance through the Careers Department and Personal Advisers from the Connexions Service.  All Advisers are professionally qualified and provide impartial and confidential advice and guidance

The Careers Department has a full-time member of staff who works closely with the Connexions Service.  Pupils have access to a well stocked careers library, including computer software to help them explore a wide range of career choices.  Pupils also receive presentations from local Colleges, Sixth Forms and Training Providers about their post 16 options and receive a monthly newsletter updating them on relevant events, useful websites and recruitment campaigns.
