Smithills Library

2016 saw the launch of our brand new Library facility which with considerable investment, and a huge team effort, has become an inspirational place to study and read. We have introduced new technology and design ideas to help inspire, and attention has been paid to the efficient use of space with shelving arranged in such a way as to be far more intuitive to navigate.

The Library has 25,000+ resources including books, journals and web resources.  Smithills School Library is run by Mrs Fahlin and she is assisted by a team of trained pupil Librarians who help at Break and Lunchtime.

Our pupil Librarians are fully conversant with, highly committed and well trained in all aspects of our Library. They are able to help with guiding you around the Library and they have break and lunchtime duties such as desk issues and returns and IT support.

All pupils are automatically enrolled as members of the library when they join Smithills School, and have full access to the facilities we offer throughout their school lives.

The key aims of our library
