Course Outline
- Pupils are grouped according to Key Stage 2 information, these groupings will be reviewed at the start of the Spring term.
- The National Numeracy Strategy has been fully implemented to provide a modular, tiered course to promote mental calculation strategies and end with a plenary to consolidate the learning that has taken place.
- Targeting Level 4 material is being used in lesson time for pupils entering with less than level 4.
Successmaker is being used to improve the basic numeracy skills of a selection of pupils.
ICT is being used extensively to enhance learning and teaching.
Assessment
- Assessment will take the form of mental, oral and written tests.
- Modular Assessment will take place at five points during the school year.
- Pupils entering at level 3 will take the Year 7 progress tes.t
There will be ongoing teacher assessment, including the assessment of a using and applying mathematics project.
- Levels obtained will be translated into National Curriculum points, in line with the school policy.
- Targets will be set according to Key Stage 2 performance, progress to these targets will be regularly monitored.
Targets
- To ensure that Key Stage 2 information is utilised effectively.
- To supply opportunities for Key Stage 3 teachers to visit Key Stage 2 classes.
- To provide opportunities for teachers to share ideas and planning.
- To ensure expectations are sufficiently high for all pupils to make maximum progress.
